'A lifelong fan of the Bears (except Jay Cutler)' disses quarterback from beyond the grave

A lifelong Chicago Bears fan didn't let a little thing like death keep her from throwing some serious shade at the team's current quarterback Jay Cutler.

From her grave, the late Elizabeth Porter Bowman made it known that she was not a huge fan of 32-year-old Cutler, and even mentioned him in her obituary.

According to the 78 year-old woman's obituary published in the Chicago Tribune, Bowman was surrounded by her children when died in Northbrook, Illinois on January 9.

"Betsy was an elementary school teacher and later a tutor, but her passion and focus was being a dedicated and involved mother and grandmother," read her obituary. 

"She was a woman of loyalty, integrity, opinion, curiosity and intelligence.

"A lifelong fan of the Cubs, Blackhawks and Bears (except Jay Cutler)."

The oft-maligned Cutler — who has been playing for the Bears since 2009 and lives in Chicago with his wife, Kristin Cavallari, and their three children — has heard the boos before.

But, as far as we know, not from the great beyond.

Cutler was the only athlete mentioned in the obit, but it's not clear why Bowman held such a grudge against the quarterback. 

The Bears or Cutler have not commented about Bowman's final words. 

85-year-old Yankees fan takes parting shot at A-Rod in obituary

Alex Rodriguez's comeback season ended with boos at Yankee Stadium after he struck out against the Astros Luke Gregerson in Tuesday night's AL Wild Card Game.

And if that was a slightly louder boo you heard from above, you might be right.

A-Rod did almost everything right to gain back the trust and affection of Yankees fans after his steroid suspension in 2014, but one Yankee fan by the name of Helen Fowler wants him to know that she will never be a fan of his — even on her deathbed.

Fowler recently died at the age of 85 and used her obituary in the Star Ledger on Sept. 30 to take one last parting shot at the Yankees pariah.

In the middle of the obit it reads: "Mrs. Fowler was a former member of the Cranford First Aid Squad and a lifelong Yankees fan, with the exception of Alex Rodriguez." 

The obituary website also includes a audio version which lets you hear her dissing A-Rod in a computerized voice that hilariously mispronounces Rodriguez's last name.

At least old Helen didn't go out with a whiff. 

Seahawks fan's death blamed on 'lousy' Super Bowl call

The Seahawks' fatal last-second play call in Super Bowl XLIX caused plenty of heartbreak in Seattle. But it also may have killed more than the team's hopes for a second consecutive Lombardi Trophy.

The final line in the obituary for Michael Vedvik, who died of a heart attack early Monday morning, reads, "We blame the Seahawks lousy play call for Mike's untimely demise."

Good thing it was just Vedvik's family having the last laugh.

Vedvik's family says the 53-year-old didn't even get to see the game, much less the shocking finish in which the Seahawks elected to pass the ball from the one-yard line instead of having Marshawn Lynch run it in.

Thinking he had indigestion or was just suffering from stress, Vedvik recorded the game and went to get some rest at his home in Kent, Wash. He died of a heart attack at approximately 4 a.m., according to The Spokesman-Review.

The family told the newspaper that the final sentence in the obit was just a joke.

“My husband would have thought it was hysterical. If I had read this obituary to my husband about somebody else, he would have had a laugh," his wife, Stephanie Vedvik, told the Spokesman-Review.

"It was just so true because my husband would have said, 'What a dumbass.'"

Somewhere Pete Carroll isn't laughing.
