Did Zach LaVine say "Bleep Me" when he was picked by Timberwolves (VIDEO)

Zach LaVine, the point guard from UCLA who was drafted with the 13th pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves, didn't look too happy hearing his name called by the team at the 2014 NBA Draft Thursday night.

The moment he was picked, he put his head on the table, got up and mumbled something that lip readers claim was this: "Bleep me."

It was a reaction you might expect from someone headed to a team that forward Kevin Love wants to bail on and already has point guards like Ricky Rubio and Jose Barea on the roster.

LaVine's agent, Bill Duffy, told local reporter Darren Wolfson that his client was just "expressing relief" at being picked.

Nerlens Noel's vow to teams that passed on him: 'I'll make them pay'

Nerlens Noel had every reason to believe he would be the first pick of the 2013 NBA Draft but, after he was slowly passed over by a couple of teams, it was apparent the 6-11 big man would become the focus of the night for all the wrong reasons—and that includes being traded.

After five picks in Thursday nights' NBA draft — with a camera continually directed on the young man's perplexed face —  the Kentucky star finally heard his name when the New Orleans Pelicans selected him with the sixth pick.

When the snubbed Noel realized he'd be teaming up with last year's No. 1 pick, Anthony Davis, he found a reason to force a smile. "I'm just happy to be with the Pelicans," said the semi-enthusiastic Noel.

Before you could say Twin Towers, that consolation was over.

The Pelicans dealt Noel and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for Jrue Holiday and this year's 42nd pick.

Which is why Noel will have one goal when takes the court next season.

"I'm going to make them pay," Noel said of the teams that passed on him.

The Sixers took a big chance on Thursday when they traded their best player to land Noel, but if he makes good on his promise, it will be well worth it. Noel has the potential to be one of the most athletic centers in the league. His combination of speed, size, and athleticism could make him a franchise changing player if he can return from his ACL injury to be the player he was at Kentucky.

Noel will have every chance to make good on his word. The Sixers traded their franchise player to get Noel, effectively handing the team to him. When he's healthy, he'll start, and he'll be the focal point of the team.

Now Noel has to be true to his word and prove those teams wrong.

First-round draft pick Lucas 'Bebe' Nogueira's hair a big hit with fans

The Boston Celtics selected Brazilian big man Lucas "Bebe" Nogueira with the 16th pick of the 2013 NBA Draft Thursday night at Barclays Center.  The 20-year-old project with burgeoning offensive skills and giant NBA dreams also comes with something else pretty big —his hair.

While it sounds like the Celtics won't keep him — Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the pick will go from Boston to Dallas to Atlanta  — but there are many people who believe Nogueira has what it takes.

But that wasn't the big deal last night.  The real story was Nogueira's head of hair, and how he floated a Celtics hat on top of it when he met NBA commissioner David Stern at the podium. The carefully balanced cap resulted in a classic introduction to the NBA.

At least Andrew Bynum probably approves.

Nerlens Noel needs help picking out NBA Draft Day outfit

The hoop dreams of NBA Draft Day can sometimes turn into recurring nightmares for a lot of the young draftees when they look back at the ill-fitting fashion disasters they chose to wear on their big day.

As in the tradition of high school portraits and senior prom poses, these fashion statements can come back to haunt you forever in pictures and on film.  So it only makes sense to take care with what you wear.

Before these guys get the big bucks to pick and roll in the NBA, some are left to pick and choose at the tall and big man shops.

One of the top picks in this year’s Draft looks to be Kentucky big man Nerlens Noel. And while he waits to find out which team will be drafting him, he’s currently figuring out what to wear — and the selection isn't too shabby. Which is where his Twitter followers come in. He is asking fans for their help in choosing his ensemble for the evening.

Nerlens has his choices narrowed down to three suits, pictured below. The first two looks are by Jhoanna Alba, and the third is by Roger Mischel. All three look great, but Nerlens can only rock one on draft night. Cast your vote and watch the 2013 NBA Draft on Thursday night to see what he wears.

Jordan tells Ewing he won't get Bobcats job

Another head-coaching job has gone by Patrick Ewing's wayside and it looks like the big guy didn't even make it to the second round.

Yahoo.com reports that Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan has informed his good pal Ewing that he will not get the vacant head-coaching position he interviewed for two weeks ago.  After an interview with Charlotte management, Jordan personally reached out to Ewing to tell him that he was eliminated as a candidate to coach the Bobcats.

The former New York Knicks center faced competition for the job from former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, former Blazers coach Nate McMillan and Golden State Warriors assistant Mike Malone.

The real story seems to be whether or not Charlotte wins the NBA lottery tonight and gets a chance to draft Kentucky's Anthony Davis before it opens up a second round of interviews.  Davis is arguably the only franchise player in the draft and other coaching candidates could throw their hats into the ring if Davis becomes a Bobcat.

Ewing— an assistant coach for the past five seasons with the Orlando Magic— is a close friend of Jordan's.  They share the same agent, David Falk, and were teammates on the original Olympic "Dream Team." Jordan even gave Ewing a prominent role in his animated movie "Space Jam" in 1996.

Ewing's close ties with Jordan may have actually worked against him.  Jordan has been criticized for hiring too many of his buddies and yes-men throughout the years and Ewing fit that bill to a tee.

With the firing of Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy, Ewing found himself available for work.  He worked with Jeff Van Gundy  in Houston before joining the Magic and his name has been tossed around as a head coach before.  Last spring, Ewing had an interview with the Detroit Pistons and impressed general manager Joe Dumars.

Despite being rivals on the court, Ewing and Jordan were close friends off it.  It might be a blessing in disguise for Ewing to be eliminated from the Bobcats job.  The team was one of the worst in NBA history (7-59) and there are questions about Jordan's financial commitment to putting together a winning team.  A first time head coach in Charlotte might be a tough place to break your cherry.

St. John's' Moe Harkless expected to enter 2012 NBA Draft

St. John's has scheduled a press conference for Monday at Madison Square Garden and the New York Daily News is reporting that freshman Moe Harkless is expected to announce that he will apply for the 2012 NBA Draft.

Harkless, who was the first big name recruited by head coach Steve Lavin at St. John's, paved the way for Lavin's third-ranked recruiting class last year.  The Queens native was also the first blue-chip player from the New York City high school system to come to St. John's since Ron Artest over a decade ago.

The rangy 6-feet-8 Harkless was named Big East Rookie of the Year and is expected to be picked somewhere between No. 15 and No. 25.

If everything goes as is expected, the 18 year-old Harkless will end all the speculation about his future at the 2 p.m. press conference.

Harkless had an outstanding freshman year even if the Red Storm struggled at times.  He averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds— sixth and second best, respectively,  among freshmen nationally.  Harkless' stock skyrocketed at the end of the season and, with a little added weight (he weighs 208 pounds), could flourish in the league.

If Harkless chooses not to hire an agent, he will have the option of removing his name from the draft and could return to St. John's.  Once he hires an agent he is no longer considered an amateur.

The guard/forward's exit would be the latest hit for the the already thin Red Storm.

Lavin is recovering from prostate cancer surgery and has limited his time coaching on the sidelines.  He has been concentrating on recruiting and watching games from a suite at Madison Square Garden on occasion.

The team itself has had trouble keeping all of the scholarship players on the roster this past season.  Three players were declared academically ineligible at the beginning of the season and two others transferred.

Not to worry.  St. John's already has another top point guard lined up.  Jamal Branch, a transfer from Texas A&M, will join the team in the middle of next year and St. John's already has commitments from 6-8 blue chipper JaKarr Sampson and 6-3 Felix Balamou.

Lavin will attend the news conference and has publicly said that whatever Harkless decides, "we will enthusiastically support him."
