Jose Canseco wants to sell his detached finger: Report

Just when you thought you couldn't find that Christmas gift for the sports fan who has everything, Jose Canseco may have solved your problems.

The former baseball slugger and disgraced player is planning to sell the finger he shot off while cleaning his gun earlier this month, according to his Twitter account.

Canseco, you might remember, shot off his finger while cleaning his gun and doctors reattached the digit, which, Canseco's fiancee said, was "hanging by a string."

But while Canseco was playing poker last week, the finger fell off, he said, and now he wants to sell it.

He can't put the finger  on eBay, since the website has a policy against selling body parts. So, if you are bent on getting a middle finger, tweet your offer to Canseco.

Jose Canseco says re-attached finger fell off during poker game

It's one thing to have a losing hand during a poker game, but what about anteing up one of your fingers?

Only about a month after doctors reattached Jose Canseco's middle finger, when he shot it off by accident, the former baseball star has revealed that the sewn on digit once fell off — during a game of poker.

The disgraced MLB star lost his finger when his weapon discharged while he was cleaning it in his Las Vegas home last month and he tweeted about it constantly.

Canseco expressed some deep-felt emotion during interviews following the freak incident, but it seems he found his latest incident "kinda funny."  

"OK well I might as well tell you," a tweet from Canseco said. "I was playing in a poker tournament last night and my finger fell off. Someone took a video of it.'"

Then he described how someone had given his agent a video of the incident and admitted he thought it was entertaining.  

Canseco also gave his followers the gory details and started expressing doubts about whether doctors should have put his finger back in place because he felt like it was falling off. 

"My finger should have been amputated from the beginning. It was very loose with no bone to connect it.it was also smelling really bad,'"he added.

Following the October gun incident, he broke down while speaking about the ordeal.

"At first I heard it go off and I actually grabbed the gun and put it on the table," he recalled.

"(I) thought nothing had happened. Then I look at my hand and my finger’s blown off."

Former baseball slugger Jose Canseco is known for shooting off his mouth. On Tuesday he accidentally shot himself through a finger on his left hand while cleaning a gun.

Never one to pass up a chance to promote himself, the bedridden Canseco tweeted a photo of the injured hand on Wednesday presumably using one of his good digits.

"Hope I can keep my finger but grateful it wasn't something worse," he tweeted.

The disgraced ballplayer added that his fiancee, Leila Knight, was taking good care of him, but he got no sleep.

Canseco returned to his Las Vegas home where the shooting took place. Police say he was wounded while he was cleaning his semiautomatic handgun and it accidentally fired.

While reattaching the finger is still questionable, he's lucky it wasn't more serious.

Alex Rodriguez has invitation to play for Long Island Ducks: Report

Alex Rodriguez may be banned for the 2014 MLB season, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Yankees slugger won't show up on a baseball diamond somewhere.

If Rodriguez's appeal to a federal court does not work out and if he still wants to play baseball this year, he does have an option, and A-Rod would not have to venture far from Yankee Stadium. The Long Island Ducks are leaving the door open, reports Newsday.

"While some MLB suspensions have been honored by the Atlantic League in the past, if Alex Rodriguez were unable to participate in the Major Leagues this season, we would be open to exploring giving him a chance to play, stay sharp and compete against a high level of competition while helping the Ducks chase a third consecutive championship," Michael Pfaff, the Ducks president and general manager, said Saturday in an email.

Earlier in the day, independent arbitrator Frederic Horowitz ruled that Rodriguez must sit out the entire 2014 Major League Baseball season in the longest drug-related suspension in the game's history. That would severely restrict him from playing elsewhere because other professional leagues such as the one in Japan generally honor Major League Baseball suspensions.

But the Atlantic League, to which the Ducks belong, is not affiliated with the major leagues and can offer employment to whomever it chooses. Among those who have played in the league (with the Newark Bears) is Jose Canseco, the self-proclaimed "Godfather of Steroids" a few years ago.

Whether the 38-year-old Rodriguez would actually want to play independent ball in Central Islip remains to be seen, but he does have an open invitation — and that $25 million pay cut to fill.

Jose Canseco's life seems made for social media —and he's tweeted some doozies —but this one is hard to explain.

The former major league ballplayer was pulled over by police Wednesday night and — like the headline says — he had some goats in his car including one wearing a diaper.

Canseco posted a photo of one of his bleating passengers with Johnny Law's flashing lights in the background and these words:

"Just got pulled over with goats in the car. The cop laughed at our poor goats. Awesome"

Jose Canseco joins minor-league team and says 'see you at Fenway'

Jose Canseco's seemingly never-ending Kenny Powers-like journey to keep his professional baseball career alive just added another episode.  The Bash Brother— and self-proclaimed 'Godfather of Steroids'— signed a one-year contract with the Worcester (Mass.) Tornadoes of the independent Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball on Friday.

The last time we heard from Canseco was last month, after he failed a drug test when he tried out for the Quintana Roo Tigers of the Mexican League after stints as boxer and MMA fighter.  He told the New York Daily News he receives testosterone treatment since he cannot produce testosterone naturally due to all of his years of steroid use.

It seems like the 47-year old slugger has played in every league in every country and just won't go away.

In fact, Canseco tweeted that he will be at Fenway Park on Friday for the landmark's 100th anniversary celebration.

"OK haters and army of immortals," he said via Twitter.  "The cat's out of the bag.  I'm here for the red sox 100th anniversary.  Glad to be back at fenway."

Canseco played for both the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees— who will be playing Friday afternoon to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first game played at Fenway.

Roger Clemens Witness List Looks More Like an All-Star Roster

Former pitching great Roger Clemens may call on ex-teammates to testify in his defense at his perjury trial.  At the same time, a prosecutor said he may call former players already implicated in the scandal to the stand as well.  It's virtually a Who's Who of future, potential and tainted Hall of Famers.

While throngs of potential jurors lined up outside the E. Prettyman Court House in Washington; both sides planned their strategies and it sounds like a lot of former baseball greats might be headed for the stand.

It sounded like U.S. District Judge might permit Clemens former Yankees teammates-- Chuck Knoblauch, Andy Pettitte and Mike Stanton-- to take the stand, after Clemen's attorney, Rusty Hardin, said that Clemens' main accuser, Brian McNamee, created evidence made to blackmail his client.

Other potential witnesses including Mark McGwire, Jorge Posada and Sammy Sosa also appeared on the list.

Jose Canseco Attempts To Use Twin Brother In Boxing Match Switcheroo

As if it wasn't already hard enough being mistaken for or compared to Jose Canseco, his lesser twin brother, Ozzie, tried to fill in for Jose in a celebrity boxing match this past weekend.

Jose's scheme to slip his brother into the ring against Billy Padder in Miami was thwarted after eagle-eyed fans noticed that certain tattoos on the stand-in's bicep didn't match Jose's as he entered the ring.

Jose---the former major league baseball slugger, steroid user and author---tried to double his pleasure and lessen the hurt by attempting to fool fight fans and officials by having his look-a-like brother trade places and get into the ring.  Jose tried pulling the time-worn twin ruse because he believed the promoters reneged on their deal.

Ozzie must really be hurting.  The 24-game major-leaguer was willing to take the beating for less money than Jose would take.

The big switch almost worked.  Ozzie fooled officials at the pre-fight weigh-in by wearing a tee-shirt and sunglasses.

When spectators inside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino noticed that Ozzie wasn't Jose, police escorted the impostor from the ring.  No punches was ever thrown.  Just another black eye to Jose's reputation.

It has been reported that Ozzie allegedly "filled in" for Jose at some baseball card shows.

It probably didn't matter which 46 year-old twin fought.  Jose's "boxing" record includes a first-round KO by former NFLer Vai Sikahema in 2008, a three-round draw against Partridge Family member Danny Bonaduce in 2009 and an MMA beat down by 7'2" Choi Hong-man later that year.

Ozzie's record includes a Miami barroom brawl alongside Jose in 2001.

Jose Twittered that the promoters didn't honor their end of the contract and claims he did nothing unethical.

On his Twitter account he said, "Is anyone out there smart enough to figure it out or are you all a bunch of hateful morons."

Celebrity Boxing promoter, Damon Feldman, said Jose was paid his fee in full in two installments.
