Raging bull jumps into stands and gores fans who teased it at bullfight (VIDEO)

A group of Peruvian bullfight fans found out what it's like to be behind the red cape when an angry bull jumped over the barriers of a bullring and ran wild in the stands, causing injury to at least 20 people.

The wild change of perspective took place during the closing of a traditional feast to celebrate the patron saint of Taraco, in the province of Huancane, Puno.

The video showed the distressed animal charging at the stands in response to the spectators, who could be seen provoking it by throwing objects and beer at it. Suddenly the bull runs towards the barricade, leaping into a crowd of people after clearing the security barrier.

Screaming can be heard as the frenzied bull begins running wild among the stands while terrified spectators jump into the ring and even climb stadium poles to escape the rampaging animal.

According to local publication Canal N, several people were gored by the animal although none were seriously injured.

The newspaper reported that prior to the event, none of the bull fighters had wanted to fight that bull due to its ferocity.

Bullfighting is a popular sport in Peru with around 540 fights being held in the country every year. 

This event is now being investigated by authorities.

The fate of the bull is unknown, but you can probably guess what it is.

For the first time in 35 years, and halfway through the the Fiesta of San Isidro, the biggest official bullfight event of the season was cancelled after three matadors were gored — one of them seriously — and no one was left to fight the usually doomed bulls.

First to lose was David Mora. Brought down by his first bull of the afternoon, he was gored in three places as he was tossed around the ring like a rag doll, according to Daily Mail.com.

After Mora was carried-off and rushed to the infirmary for emergency surgery, Antonio Nazare followed tradition and dispatched the bull using cape and sword.

But he did so as swiftly as possible, with none of the flair audiences expect.

Then it was Nazare's turn to fight his own first bull of the afternoon. Within minutes he followed Mora to the infirmary with a single goring.

The one remaining matador, Jimenez Fortes, stepped into the ring and killed the animal, again swiftly and without flamboyance.

Then his own first bull sent him flying through the air, catching him on its horns three times.

With no one left to fight them, there was no alternative other than cancelling the rest of the corrida.

It was the first time that had happened during San Isidro since 1979, and only the third time in the Spanish fiesta's history.

Matador gets rear-ended by a bull's horns

This is one bull that knows how to get its point across.  A bullfighter's apprentice was frighteningly gored in the rear end and lifted into the air by his horned challenger in Madrid on Sunday.

Rafael Cerro, a rising star in the controversial "sport" of bullfighting, was wounded while taking on his first bull of the night at the Las Ventas ring.

Amazingly, the 23-year-old matador — making a comeback after being gored in the stomach two months ago —walked away with just a sore butt and a bruised ego.

The doomed bull, unfortunately, was probably not so lucky.
