Lolo Jones back with bobsled teammates after being 'quarantined' with flu: Report

American-hurdler-turned-bobsledder Lolo Jones was battling cold and flu-like symptoms, and she was briefly quarantined from her teammates on Monday.

According to the Associated Press, Bobsled spokeswoman Amanda Bird confirmed that it was just a precautionary move, but that didn't stop Jones from posting on Twitter while she was isolated from the team.

She was reportedly back with her fellow sledders later on Monday. Jones will be paired with pilot Jazmine Fenlator once women's bobsled competition begins on Feb. 18.

Jones and teammate Lauryn Williams (track and field) are set to become the ninth and tenth American athletes to compete in both the summer and winter games.

Mike Francesa's show to air on Fox Sports 1: Report

It didn't take long for the Sports Pope and his ever present Diet Coke to find themselves back on TV.

Only one week after his contract with the YES Network expired, Mike Francesa struck a deal to simulcast his WFAN radio show on Fox Sports 1, according to a source. 

Francesa's 12-year simulcast run on the YES Network ended on Super Bowl Sunday.

No information was available on the terms of the contract, but Francesa said on his show last week that an announcement would be official early this week, and that New York's Numbah One was looking to be back on TV in time for March Madness.

The deal comes after a week where Francesa’s replacement on YES, Michael Kay, opened his ESPN radio show by tossing a Diet Coke in the trash, prompting Francesa to call the move “classless” and sparking a bit of a feud between the two hosts.

Since FS1 and YES are both owned by Fox, it now puts Francesa and Kay in the same TV family and should make the head-to-head competition very interesting. And those are a couple of huge noggins we're talking about.

Whether or not that means their "feud" is over remains to be seen. 

MSG had widely been considered the most logical candidate for Francesa's show after making a bid for it five years ago that YES matched. But FS1 entered the bidding, presumably in an effort to increase the new cable sports network's visibility.

Mongos rejoice.

Czech slopestyle boarder crashes and destroys her helmet (VIDEO)

Sarka Pancochova of the Czech Republic was the latest victim of Sochi’s slopestyle course when she fell and smashed her head during her second run of the finals on Sunday.

The same course Olympic superstar Shaun White bailed on, after he deemed it too dangerous, seems to be living up to its "sketchy" reputation.

Fortunately for the 23-year-old Pancochova, competitors are required to wear helmets. And Pancochova's brainbucket may have saved her from a major head injury. But, alas, her headgear wasn't so lucky and was destroyed on impact.

Unable to cleanly land the first jump of her second run, Pancochova fell hard on the course. As she crash landed, her head smacked hard against the slope. Laid out on the snow at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park, medical personnel rushed over and tended to her. Luckily, it didn't take long for Pancochova to get back to her feet and made it down to the bottom of the course on her board and a fifth place finish.

American Jamie Anderson took home the gold with a strong second run — and she actually called the tough Russian course “fun” afterwards.

Missouri All-American and NFL prospect Michael Sam says he is gay

Missouri All-American Michael Sam says he is gay, and the Tigers defensive end could become the first openly homosexual player in the NFL.

In multiple interviews published Sunday night, the 260-pound Sam — an All-America pick last season and potential mid-round NFL draft pick in May — revealed he is gay.

"I just want to make sure I could tell my story the way I want to tell it," Sam told the New York Times. "I just want to own my truth."

In other interviews with ESPN and Outsports, Sam says he already came out to his teammates and coaches at Missouri in August.

"I am an openly, proud gay man," he said

Sam's  representatives had spread the word to NFL teams recently he planned to come out before this month's NFL scouting combine.

On Saturday night, Sam had dinner with a group including former NFL punter Chris Kluwe and linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo, who both have been outspoken in their support of gay rights.

No NFL player has announced publicly he's gay while his career is active. Several former players, including Kwame Harris and Esera Tuaolo, have said they're gay after retiring.

Sam participated in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., last month after leading the SEC in sacks (11.5) and tackles for loss (19), and he is projected to be a mid-round NFL draft pick.

"It’s a big deal. No one has done this before. And it’s kind of a nervous process," he said. "But I know what I want to be ... I want to be a football player in the NFL." 

Bode Miller finishes a disappointing eighth in men's downhill

American skiing star Bode Miller hoped to win Sochi gold and make history in the men's downhill final on Sunday morning but ended up finishing a disappointing eighth place.

Austria's Matthias Mayer set the time to beat of 2:06.23 early in the competition and had the remaining competitors chasing his time all day— including Miller. After all of the races on the fast downhill course were through, Mayer's time held up to win the gold. Italy's Christof Innerhofer took home the silver and Norway's Kjetil Jansrud won bronze.

Miller's time of 206.75 was .52 behind Mayer.

Miller — a five-time Olympic medalist and longtime World Cup star —  had impressed everyone with near-perfect runs in winning two of the three training sessions. The 36-year-old  had hoped to become the oldest skier to ever win the event.

Miller will have a few other chances to add to his medal collection in this, his fifth Winter Olympics. He will still compete in the Super Combined (where he will defend his gold from Vancouver), the Super-G and Giant Slalom.

Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart shoves Texas Tech fan during game (VIDEO)

Oklahoma State star Marcus Smart made a dumb move when he shoved a fan behind the basket in the waning seconds of Texas Tech's 65-61 win over the 19th-ranked Cowboys on Saturday night.

Smart tried to block Jaye Crockett's dunk attempt from behind with 6.2 seconds to go and tumbled into the front row of the crowd. He was helped to his feet by one man but then got in the face of the Tech fan in a black shirt.

The man appeared to say something to Smart, who then shoved him with two hands. The fan stumbled backward but didn't fall.

Teammates quickly pulled the angry Smart away from the fracas, and he pointed back in the direction of the fan. Smart was called for a technical foul but was not ejected.

A unanimous selection to the preseason All-America team, Smart could face discipline from the Big 12. Texas Tech spokesman Trenten Hilburn said John Underwood, the conference's associate commissioner for basketball, said the league would review the situation.

"I didn't see it yet. I want to make sure I see it and see what happened," Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford said after the game. "I'm still trying to figure it out."

The days leading up to the Sochi Olympics have been riddled with a seemingly endless stream of structural and technical miscues but none stood out any brighter than the doily-fication of one of the mighty Olympic rings during Friday night's Opening Ceremony.

And it didn't take one entrepreneur long to take advantage of the epic fail.

Michael Miller said proceeds from his T-shirt — available in various colors — poking fun at the miscue will be donated to a still undetermined charity.
