Reds minor leaguer plays all nine positions in one game (VIDEO)

When the Pensacola Blue Wahoos — Cincinnati's Double-A affiliate — clinched their division with one game to go, there was a pretty good chance that some players would get a rest. But instead of taking the day off, shortstop Ray Chang took the opportunity to play all nine positions, a different one each inning.

It all started when Chang walked into the locker room and was given a choice by his manager, Pat Kelly: Take the day off or be a jack of all trades. Chang's decision to play led to a stint at first base, and then, like running the bases around the diamond, next came second base, then short, then third, then the outfield. Check out the boxscore:

The only problem arose when Chang was called in to catch Pensacola closer Zack Weiss — the league leader in saves and the owner of a mid-90s fastball.

"Catching [was the hardest] by far," Chang said after the game. "The hardest part about it is when the ball's in the strike zone, you know that guy's going to swing, but you have to keep focused on the ball and not the bat coming through the zone."

Chang made it through OK, though, and even tossed a clean ninth inning:

Oh yeah. Chang also went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored a run.

Take that Will Ferrell.

John Madden blasts Will Ferrell for playing in MLB spring training games

When Will Ferrell took the field for ten teams during an MLB spring training day stunt which benefited cancer research, most people found it to be a harmless diversion from what are normally considered warmup games.

Not so Hall of Fame NFL coach and legendary broadcaster John Madden who thought the actor should keep his sports comedy on screen and off the diamond.

The daylong stunt was part of a new HBO special from Funny Or Die — which is dedicated to the fight against cancer. Ferrell suited up for ten teams — including Madden's hometown Oakland Athletics — and played all nine positions during games in the Cactus League in Arizona on Thursday.

When Madden was asked about the stunt, he said it showed a "lack of respect."

The 78-year-old Madden called in to KCBS before Ferrell took the field with the A's to discuss the stunt.

"I hate it," he said.

"That's a lack of respect for the game and for what players have to do to get where they are."

In addition to the A's, Ferrell "played" for the Mariners, Angels, Cubs, D'Backs, Reds, White Sox, Giants, Dodgers and Padres.

The Super Bowl-winning coach further explained that when he was coaching in Oakland, Golden State Warriors superstar Rick Barry said he wanted to practice with the Raiders during training camp.

Madden claimed he instructed his players to flatten the NBA star.

"I'm in training camp in Santa Rosa. Rick Barry comes walking by and he was playing for the Warriors at that time," said Madden. "He was a friend of Al Davis' and he said he was going to go in and suit up and go out on the field and practice, to fool Al.

"I swear this is true," claimed Madden.

"Jack Tatum and George Atkinson walked by and I said, 'Look, if this guy comes out on the field, he's live bait and I want you to go after him the way you would go after any other player that plays on another team.'"

After Ferrell's duties on the field, his spring training statistics were posted on baseball-reference.com.

Ferrell is listed 11 times under the March 12, 2015, transactions section of baseball reference.

Among the notable listings for John William Ferrell (Manimal) are: Traded to Chicago Cubs for a washing machine; Traded to Arizona Diamondbacks for a Churro Dog and D-Bat Dog; and claimed off waivers by Cincinnati Reds, Norm MacDonald released.

He's listed as becoming arbitration eligible in 2018 and can file for free agency in 2021.

Will Ferrell nails cheerleader in face with basketball (VIDEO)

Ever wonder how Hollywood manages to get those crowd-filled sporting events on film without having to pay thousands of extras (excuse me, background actors)? Well, if you are sports parody king Will Ferrell, you just take over the arena during halftime.

Ferrell, channelling his best Andy Kaufman,  hit a cheerleader in the face with a basketball and was then dragged out of the arena by security during Wednesday night's Pelicans-Lakers game at the Smoothie King Center.

The staged incident was part of a film shoot where Ferrell's character was attempting a half-court shot with the cheerleaders lined up alongside him. Instead of aiming for the basket, he fired the ball directly into the face of one of the girls,

The scene is for the upcoming film, "Daddy's Home," which also stars Mark Wahlberg, Linda Cardellini and Hannibal Buress.

"When a divorced guy's ex-wife re-marries someone way more uptight, he re-enters her life and wreaks havoc," is how IMDB describes the flick.

Production has been filming around New Orleans for a while and is expected to take place at the arena over several days. Fans in attendance will be informed of the shoot, according to NOLA.com.

And you thought nothing could upstage Kobe and his castmates' comedy blockbuster  this season.

Will Ferrell, Gordon Ramsey injured in charity soccer match

Hollywood star Will Ferrell and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey were both injured while playing in a charity soccer game in England on Sunday.  In what was supposed to be a friendly match, both celebrities got a little roughed up.

Funnyman Ferrell wasn't smiling and in visible pain as he limped off the field with a leg injury while Ramsey was carted  to the sideline on a stretcher like an overcooked steak while receiving oxygen after being leveled by former Manchester United star Teddy Sherington during the second half.

Both celebrities were participating in the celebrity sporting event Soccer Aid.  England ended up beating the "Rest of the World," 3-1, in Manchester, England.

The foul-mouthed, bullying Ramsey and Ferrell— the star of "Kicking and Screaming" (remember that soccer classic?)  were teammates on The Rest of the World team whose film industry roster included Woody Harrelson, Mike Myers, Gerard Butler and Edward Norton along with a sprinkling of former soccer stars.

Ramsey was taken to a hospital— after Sherington flattened the chef like a bad souffle— and released.

The event was the brainchild of singer Robbie Williams and raised $6.4 million for the charity UNICEF.

NASCAR Pastor Thanks God For His "Smokin' Hot Wife" During Pre-Race Prayer

A pastor at a NASCAR Nationwide series race, thanked God for cars, racing fuel and his "smokin' hot wife," during a pre-race prayer in Nashville last Saturday.  Pulling a line from the character Ricky Bobby in  the movie "Talladega Nights," Joe Helms, pastor of the Family Baptist Church in Lebanon Tenn., shake and baked a lot of God-fearing attendees at the race .

While delivering the pre-race invocation, Helms paraphrased some lines from the 2006 film starring Will Ferrell.  He blessed the "drivers worthy of this track" and also thanked God for Dodges, Toyotas and Fords; along with Sunoco racing fuel and Goodrich tires and GM performance technology.

Sounds like the pastor is shaking hands with God and a few racing sponsors.

The video shows Helms surrounded by race car drivers, soldiers,  his wife Lisa and his two children at the race track.  Helms also thanked the Almighty for his kids, Eli and Emma-- the "little E's"-- and finished his blessing with these words, "in Jesus' name, boogity, boogity, boogity ...Amen!"

Helms attempt to lighten the prayer service, held on the side of the  racing oval and in the middle of the Bible Belt, drew mixed reactions.

The drivers standing next to Helms realized where the lines were coming from and held back giggles; while the pastor's daughter shook with laughter.

The "smokin' hot wife" line comes from a scene in the movie where Ricky Bobby blesses a fast food meal.

Helms said he used the lines because he wanted to avoid "cookie-cutter prayers."

Sounds like the pastor was "all jacked up on Mountain Dew" and now,  Helm's flock might saying, "Holy, moly, that's like lookin' up Yasmine Bleeth's skirt!"
