Torii Hunter flips out, tears off jersey in epic tirade (VIDEO)

If Torii Hunter seemed just a tad pissed off after the home plate umpire made a questionable strike three call Wednesday night at Target Field well .... yes he was.

Unhappy with Mark Ripperger's eighth inning call, the Twins outfielder got so mad he started peeling off his uniform. And like an angry pole dancer on a slow matinee, Hunter started his striptease by yanking off his shin guard, then his batting gloves before tearing off his jersey and flinging it at the plate.

Not sexy, but very theatrical.

It was the ninth career ejection for Hunter.

"I thought it was a ball. The pitch before that I thought it was a little up and he called it a strike," Hunter said. "That's fine, but I thought the last pitch he called a strike was revenge because I said something the pitch before."

Twins manager Paul Molitor went out to try to restrain Hunter before he was ejected too.

"I just told [Ripperger] that he had a bad night, or what I thought wasn't a very good night and he told me he had a really good night," Molitor said.

And after Hunter hit the showers, it all came down to the bat boy picking up the dirty laundry.

The return of Torii Hunter to the Minnesota Twins got off to a rough start at his introductory press conference Wednesday after a reporter asked Hunter about his view on gay marriage.

Hunter — who once said that having a gay teammate would be "difficult and uncomfortable" and recently criticized gay marriage in a political candidate's ad — bristled at St. Paul Pioneer Press writer Mike Berardino's hot topic question and called him a "prick" — four times!

Hunter — who just signed with the Twins on Tuesday, taking a one-year contract worth $10.5 million to go back to the team he started his MLB career with — had every right to avoid answering a non-baseball question — but, for what it's worth, could have handled it better.

Yu Darvish freezes Torii Hunter with surprise eephus pitch (VIDEO)

During Thursday's game between the Rangers and Tigers, Yu Darvish got creative with an 0-2 count and two outs against Torii Hunter. The Rangers pitcher didn't get strike three with the whimsical eephus pitch, but it forced Hunter's head to spin.

Darvish's low-speed, 55 mph-junk throw came at the right time — a seven-run lead and no one on base — to have a little fun. And even if the seventh-inning pitch didn't pack any heat or make Hunter swing, it still got his brain to freeze.

Something has to give when a respected veteran major league player is traded to a team and the uniform number he has worn for 16 years is already on the back on one of his new teammates.  Usually it ends up costing someone a nice dinner or maybe even a new car.

What happened when former Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter called his new teammate Rick Porcello last week to tell him he wanted the Detroit Tigers pitcher's No. 48 probably cost more than a new pickup truck, but  — besides the cherished number — what it paid back in good karma and helping people in need is priceless.

In a gesture, that has to go down as one of the best-intentioned number-swapping stories in MLB history, Porcello readily agreed to giving up his No. 48 under the condition that Hunter — who wore the number since coming up with the Twins — donate money to relief from Hurricane Sandy.

Call it a jersey for Jersey.

Porcello — a homegrown New Jersey baseball star at Seton Hall Prep — still has an off-season home in the state he calls "my home."

"Being from New Jersey, I've been looking at opportunities to help," the 24-year-old Porcello told The New York Daily News. "I've seen the impact the storm had, the devastation it caused.  I wanted to make some difference and when Torri made his offer, this was definitely one way.  We're putting something together for the relief efforts and I'm going to be giving back as well."

Porcello — who will be wearing his old high school No. 21 from now on — said Hunter made what was "a very generous" monetary offer.

The righthander saw little action during the Tigers' recent World Series run but Porcello has seen a lot of the destruction left behind in his home state by the superstorm.  The image of the Seaside Heights roller coaster sitting in the ocean is one he can't shake off.

"Anybody's who's been down there, that will be burned into people's minds for a long time," he said.  "It'll take a lot to bring it back."

Fan Offers Cash Reward To Angels Torii Hunter During Game At Yankee Stadium

Los Angeles Angels rightfielder, Torii Hunter picked up a pair of glasses that fell onto the field at Yankee Stadium during last night's game, and handed them back to the man in the stands who then dangles a ten-dollar bill at the player as a reward.  If it was a bribe for something, it was way too small.

The funny exchange took place during the bottom of the fourth inning of the Yankees/Angels game after Nick Swisher jacked a long fly ball that headed towards the man and what looks like his family (they're all wearing the same type of brand-new Yankees gear).

Hunter catches the ball but also catches a glimpse of the glasses below the right-field stands where the man is hanging over the rail.

Hunter hands the the specs back to the guy, but refuses to take the bill as a reward.

Does this guy know that Hunter is in the fourth year of a five-year, $90 million contract?

Anyway, ten bucks won't even get you a beer and a hot dog in the House That Ruth Built.

If the guy was trying to bribe him to drop the next ball, the Angels won, 6-4.
