Katy Perry to perform at halftime of Super Bowl XLIX: Report

Katy Perry will be the headlining act at the next Super Bowl halftime show when she takes the stage on the NFL's biggest night and during one of the world's most watched events, it was announced Sunday night.

The pop singer was picked for the vaunted spot during the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show next February 1, the singer and the National Football League both confirmed.

"Yeppers! And I've already started testing out ideas!" Perry tweeted moments after the announcement was made at halftime during the nationally-televised game between the Cowboys and Giants.

There was already speculation last month that the perky Perry would be the star performer at this year's Super Bowl. And after show business' worst kept secret, she beat out other popular artists which reportedly included Rihanna and Coldplay.

The most recent Super Bowl halftime extravaganza featured Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers and drew a record 111.5 million US television viewers last February.

The 30-year-old Perry — known for her flamboyant costumes and such hits as Firework, California Gurls, Dark Horse, and Part of Me — will now find a new audience in millions of homes worldwide.

It seems the league's new policy for keeping abuse out of households doesn't apply to TV viewers' listening pleasure.

Just kidding Roar fans.

Well, at least she won't have skeevy Russell Brand in tow.

Next year's Super Bowl could be without halftime musical act: Report

Forget about wardrobe malfunctions, lip-synching and power outages — because next year's Super Bowl in the frosty climes of MetLife Stadium might go on without a halftime show altogether.

There is no plan for one at Super Bowl XLVIII in the open-air home of the Jets and Giants in New Jersey — because NFL officials can’t figure out how to stage the festivities in the frigid climate, sources told The New York Post.

“It’s because of the cold weather,” revealed one source involved in the planning of the first-ever open-to-the-winter-elements Super Bowl.

“It’s not only the acts and the singers but [also] the crews that have to put the stage together. You know, the assembly has to be done a certain way. It’s choreographed and rehearsed so it can be assembled and disassembled as fast as possible. And you just can’t assemble the stage and break it down fast enough in the cold.”

"There's no plan right now of what to do in its place," the planning official said.

The NFL is freaking out about these issues because they've never done a cold-weather Super Bowl," said another source.

While lawyers, NFL executives and TV flacks try to figure out what to do if there is a cold weather emergency leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, a source said New Jersey and New York are stockpiling rock salt for next year — just in case.

Maybe they should be looking for some rock stars instead.

Officials with the league and the Super Bowl host committee declined comment to The Post.
