Elderly Wrigley Field fan makes great catch, throws back decoy ball (VIDEO)

This old guy made a great play in the Wrigley Field bleachers by grabbing Mark Reynolds's second-inning home run — and it might have been the best catch in any MLB stadium Monday night.

The gray-haired senior in a Cubs jersey almost backflipped over the fence to snag the ball, thrilling the crowd around him. Too bad though, just like another fan from a month ago, he punks out and throws a decoy ball back onto the outfield.

If you look closely, you can see him reach down and grab the dummy ball from the bleachers and throw it back with the real one still in his glove.

Listen up Cubs fans. If you're going to make a statement, don't pussy out.

Brewers clear bases on bizarre wild pitch sequence (VIDEO)

Talk about a team getting caught napping.  The Brewers scored three runs against the Rockies on a wild pitch by Christian Friedrich and a throwing error by Michael McKenry during one of the strangest sequences of misplays you'll ever see on the baseball diamond.

The bizarre play unfolded with two outs in the third inning, after Friedrich intentionally walked Jean Segura to load the bases. Friedrich sent his next pitch to the backstop, and catcher McKenry tracked down the ball along the first-base line. Aramis Ramirez scored from third on the wild pitch, but McKenry's attempt to throw him out at the plate went, allowing Mark Reynolds to score from second on the wild throw, which Friedrich then retrieved near the third-base dugout.

The Rockies pitcher, thinking timeout had been called by the umpires, trotted slowly toward the mound with the ball, but Segura, who had moved to third base and was held by no one, sneakily inched toward home plate.

Got it so far?

Then, with Friedrich not paying attention and McKenry bent over due to back pain near home plate (he stayed in the game), Segura raced down the line. Friedrich noticed him, and instead of throwing to McKenry, attempted a futile tag by himself.

"It was crazy. A crazy play," Segura said. "I've never seen that in my life, in my whole career."

Mark Reynolds makes flying catch of Yankees line drive

The Baltimore Orioles rolled into Yankee Stadium with a lot to prove on Friday night.  Only three games separate the O's from the from the first-place New York Yankees in the AL East and the black and orange birds don't want to do their annual swan song down the stretch.

If unbelievable catches show that the Orioles mean business, then Mark Reynolds set the tone early and drew first blood in the three-game series.

The O's first baseman made an amazing diving catch of Russell Martin's hard hit line drive between first and second bases in the third inning.  Reynolds soared through the air to make the grab and, as YES Network announcer Ken Singleton put it, "The only thing missing was a cape on this play."



Reynolds catch saved a sure double for Martin — who could probably use a hit and a hug.  The Yankees catcher is 11-for-61 in his last at-bats.
