Valencia CF getting sued by DC Comics for stealing 'Batman' logo: Report

Something seems to have Batman's tights in a twist and it has nothing to do with any of the Gotham City crimefighter's arch-enemies.

Nope, the Bat Phone is ringing off the hook because the Caped Crusader's parent company, DC Comics, could be on the verge of suing the Valencia C.F. soccer organization due to the club's apparent attempt at copying the Batman logo, according to MailOnline.

The La Liga soccer giant has had a bat on their team crest since their formation in 1919 but that has not stopped the American comic book publisher from suing the legendary Spanish club.

DC Comics are said to have become unhappy at Valencia trying to register an image of a bat with outspread wings as its official trademark.

California-based company DC Comics, who are owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment, were formed in 1934 and has originated well-known comic book characters such as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman — all who fall under the DC umbrella.

'Caucasians' T-shirt satirizing Cleveland Indians' logo a big seller: Report

A popular item in Canada this summer on Ontario First Nations’ reserves is a T-shirt with the lettering “Caucasians” and an altered version of Chief Wahoo, the grinning, much-derided mascot of the Cleveland Indians team.

The Caucasians' version of the logo shows a big-toothed, blond-haired man with a dollar sign as a headdress below a bat and ball. 

The T-shirt's design — obviously taking a jab at the offensive Native American caricature — has received lots reaction on and outside of the Canadian reserves — where it has become a hot fashion item, according to the Toronto Star.

“People’s reaction has been all positive and they see the humor in it both on and off the reserve,” said Tracy Bomberry who wore one to a pow wow in her community of Six Nations of the Grand River last weekend. She bought the Caucasians T-shirt after reading that Ojibwa singer DJ NDN of A Tribe Called Red was accused of racism for wearing one last month.

Indiana church refuses to allow headstone with NASCAR, Colts logos in its graveyard

We've all heard stories about deceased sports fans being buried in their favorite team jersey or with a valued piece of sports memorabilia but one Indiana church is telling a woman her late husband can't proclaim his sports allegiances —or the place he watched them from — above the ground in the hereafter.

Shannon Carr commissioned a black granite headstone to mark the grave of her husband Jason Carr and show his love of sports and the outdoors. The $9,000 headstone is shaped like a couch and features images of a deer, a dog and color logos of NASCAR and the Indianapolis Colts.

Now Carr is suing the St. Joseph Catholic Church for refusing to install it.

The Rev, Jonathan Meyer, a priest at the church, said the headstone didn't meet the cemetery's standards because of its secular nature and couldn't be placed in the church's century-old graveyard.

"We provided the family funeral rites, prepared a funeral meal and offered family members individual counseling after the services," Meyer said. "We were with them the entire way until this matter came up."

Carr claims in her lawsuit that the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis Properties Inc., which owns the cemetery, never produced any regulations for the plot until a year after she tried to have the headstone installed in 2010.

The issue has divided the church community.

"They told her not to move forward with the purchasing of the monument, but she went ahead anyway," Meyer said. "We have consistently communicated the same message prior to the purchase and after the purchase. We did not think a granite couch was an appropriate monument in our historic cemetery."

Now maybe if Carr had been an Angels fan...
