Vince Wilfork wearing overalls in 'Hard Knocks' is a sight to be unseen (VIDEO)

Vince Wilfork offered no reason why he strolled into the Houston Texans locker room wearing overalls, cowboys boots and little else. But the 325-pound defensive lineman was a sight to behold.

And the hilarious scene of the 12-year NFL veteran lurking about in his gigantic OshKosh By'gosh-style duds in this week's episode of HBO's Hard Knocks was pure gold.

Osi Umenyiora defends locker-room 'culture' in NFL

Osi Umenyiora said he knew the reaction to the Prince Amukamara cold-tub video would be "bad" but the New York Giants defensive end is standing up for the incident which he claims is part of NFL locker-room "culture."

In a tweet he sent to Steve Weatherford— which has apparently been deleted— Umenyiora says if Weatherford is apologizing for his video then HBO should apologize for "Hard Knocks."

Umenyiora's take on Jason Pierre-Paul's dunking of Amukamara may make head coach Tom Coughlin cringe but he is a locker room insider and has a good perspective into the way players co-exist.

"It happens.  I hate it got out there like that but when you look at it on the video, it looks a whole lot worse than it was actually was," Umenyiora told The Star Ledger.  "If you had seen the whole thing, they'd know it was just playing around and it's stuff that just happens.  But it was nothing worse then what you see on that show."

Asked if he thinks people would be shocked by a lot of the things that go on in the locker room that players consider mundane Umenyiora answered, "Absolutely.  I think so. But that's the way it is.  If you grow up in this culture or whatever, there are certain things ... I mean, you probably play around with your cousins and brothers and stuff like that in a way you wouldn't normally in a public place.  It's the same thing here."

He also knew there would be hell to pay for the hazing stunt after Umenyiora admitted he knew it looked bad to the media.

"Honestly, I was just sticking up for my teammate because when I saw it, knowing what I know about the way it actually was, I was like, 'Oh, that's bad.'  I promise you I said that," Umenyiora said when asked about the tweet to Weatherford.  "But as a team, we always have to stick together.  It was the truth, but I still have to stick up for my teammate."

Umenyiora knows the video can be decieving.

"Because of the way it looked.  Some of the language and, even though JPP and Prince were good friends, from the outside looking in, you'd think, 'Man, JPP's a bully.'  It's not like that," said Umenyiora.  "Everybody loves Prince.  I just know it didn't look the way it ever was."

Umenyiora also hinted that he might have been more than just a spectator while Weatherford was aiming his camera.

"I was right there," he joked.  "They didn't catch me on camera, but I was there egging the whole thing on."

Dolphins' coach Joe Philbin is scared to see himself on 'Hard Knocks'

HBO's "Hard Knocks" might have thought the Miami Dolphins were the right team to showcase on the summer series about an NFL training camp, but it has been revealed that one of the show's anticipated stars, new head coach Joe Philbin, might be camera-shy.

Philbin said he has a history of skin cancer and is concerned that appearances on the series will show him with an embarrassingly swollen face.  The first year head coach said it is caused by not paying attention to the dosage for the cream he uses to treat it.

"I must have put on too much," said Philbin.  "The thing swelled up.  It looked like I got hit with five left-hooks right in my forehead," he told reporters last week.

"The point of the story is that I had to do a an HBO interview, so I've got this hat, I can't even put on it on. . . I've got this big scab hanging off my lip.  So it's on the thing."

You would think media-hog Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson (an off-season Dolphins pick-up) would be the center of the producer's attention, but it's Philbin's back story and challenges as a first year coach that have trained the camera's lens on their reluctant break-out star.

The quiet coach is not as profane or larger than life as 2010's big star, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan, but Philbin brings his own kind of drama to the series.

Philbin is still getting over the pain of losing his 21-year old son to a drowning accident in a frozen river last winter and has the enormous challenge of taking over a losing team he has never coached.

Philbin said he does not plan to watch himself after seeing a small preview of the show HBO has been showing.

"I'm looking and I'm like ,'Oh, God''" Philbin said of his reaction.  :"Am I scared of me on TV, yeah."

"I'm not scared of the information or leakage or any of that kind of stuff," he said opposing teams might use against his squad.  "I'm not worried about that one bit, but I am worried about me."

Rex Ryan against Jets return to 'Hard Knocks'

HBO has approached the New York Jets hoping that ratings-maker Tim Tebow's new team will once again be featured on the reality series but the network has run into brick wall named Rex Ryan.

Sources have told Fox Sports that owner Woody Johnson has made it clear he wants to see his team back on the HBO show.  Now, the out-spoken head coach has come out and said he is against the project.

Never mind the MetLife blimp, are those pigs I see flying over MetLife Stadium?

Ryan, according to sources, doesn't want a carnival-like atmosphere surrounding his players after last season's locker room dysfunction and late-season collapse.  Now along comes Tebow and a quarterback controversy— Ringling Brothers has nothing on this group.

Ryan's foul mouth and his band of outsiders made the first training camp documentary a big hit and Johnson seems to like the notoriety.

It looks like Johnson believes all the attention the cable show brings is a wild cat victory for the Jets— who still play little brother to the New York Giants in the Meadowlands.  They started to get headlines by trading for Tebow and a return to "Hard Knocks" might wipe some more of the sheen off of the Giants' Lombardi Trophy this summer.

HBO originally wanted Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos to be on the show, but they declined.

If Ryan gets his way, HBO has interest in featuring both the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens to focus on the the team's tough-as-nails coaches, brothers Jim and Jim Harbaugh.

Woody Johnson: Jets considering a 'Hard Knocks 2'

Could the New York Jets be bringing Tebow-mania to HBO's "Hard Knocks" this summer?  If you heard team owner Woody Johnson correctly today— he didn't rule out the possibility.

Johnson, appearing at the opening of the NFL's new mid-town Manhattan pop-up store, said he heard rumors that the network was interested in having the Jets back on the documentary-type TV series for the second time in three years.

The rumors began getting louder— not  surprisingly— after the Jets traded for media sensation Tim Tebow.

"Ive heard that, but we have yet to receive a formal invitation," said Johnson about the speculation.  "When we do, we will take a look at it."

Did the cable network actually have informal discussions with the Jets?

"Yeah but... nothing... ," Johnson said, clearing the situation up a little.  "It's a formal invitation that we can respond to, not an informal [one]."

Johnson mentioned that the last time the team participated in the show, the  Jets reached the AFC Championship Game and brought "tremendous value."

The Jets became a nationwide phenomenon and made Rex Ryan— and his potty mouth— a household name.

This sequel would have some new cast members, but the real star would be Tebow.

Would the Jets consider being followed by cameras throughout training camp again— after all of the team's locker room issues and general dysfunction?

"It's something we would take a look  at with Mike(Tannenbaum), and the coach, and the (director of media relations) Bruce (Speight), and I and others that we think would add value to that discussion, to see whether it is something we want to do."

Jets tight end Dustin Keller, who was greeting fans at the store, said being on the show in 2010 was "pretty easy" for the players.  He joked that, if anything, the cameras made him work harder.

"We would be good for Hard Knocks, especially with Rex's personality, the Tebow trade— I definitely see how we would be appealing," said Keller.  "With everything that's going on right now, there couldn't be any more exposure. If it's something that could be good for the team, why not do it?"

Asked about a report that said suggested  the Jets plan to limit Tebow's outside appearances, Johnson said Tebow will be managed the same as the other 52 players on the team.

Hard Knocks 2 may not get the Jets to another championship game but it will give the Jets another jolt of the publicity Johnson seems to crave.
