Josh Reddick wears Georgia Bulldogs football gear before game

No, that wasn't the Oakland Athletic's catcher Kurt Suzuki sporting a Georgia Bulldogs face mask while sitting in the team's dugout Saturday afternoon — it was college gridiron fan and A's rightfielder Josh Reddick.

Before the A's game against Tampa Bay, the Georgia native warmed up wearing a University of Georgia football helmet and cycling jersey to celebrate his favorite team's opening game against Clemson. It's too bad the Tigers outlasted Reddick's Dawgs, 38-35.

Earlier in the week, the Rays' David Price donned a full Vanderbilt football getup during his warmups.

It's good to see that SEC football is alive and well on Major League baseball diamonds across America.

Ref gets hit in the shnozz then lands on pom-poms

During Kentucky's rout of Georgia last night at Rupp Arena, a Bulldogs' errant pass was kicked squarely into the face of referee Antonio Payne who staggered back and fell but was lucky enough to land in a cushy pile of Wildcats cheerleaders and their pom-poms.

The wayward pass— which was accidently kicked out of bounds by a Kentucky player— seemed like one of many Georgia mistakes as top-ranked Kentucky steamrolled the Bulldogs, 79-49, to back up their No. 1 ranking.

While the Bullgogs were hitting the ref in the sniffer, Kentucky players hit 15 three-point shots.

The referee was fine— maybe too fine.
