Brent Musburger suggests Mormons start drinking during Las Vegas Bowl blowout (VIDEO)

The first quarter of Saturday's Las Vegas Bowl looked pretty bleak for BYU fans. Their team was already down 35-zip in the first eight minutes of the Holy War game against Utah when ESPN analyst Brent Musburger dropped this broadcasting tidbit.

“I really feel sorry for my Mormon friends at BYU," Musburger said with great sincerity. “They don’t drink! This game would drive you to it.”

The Cougars rallied to get within seven points, but I'm betting the beer vendor didn't see a run on brewskis in the meantime.

AJ McCarron gets victory peck from 'girlfriend' Katherine Webb (VIDEO)

After Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron led the Crimson Tide to a shutout victory against Ole Miss on Saturday, his rumored ex-girlfriend, the Carl's Jr. hamburger model — and Brent Musburger muse —  Katherine Webb, was on hand to congratulate him with a kiss — make that more of a peck — on the cheek.

Webb was seen planting a nice but somewhat awkward congratulatory smooch on McCarron's cheek after the quarterback took a victory jog over to his parents.

After he kissed mom and dad first, McCarron turned to get a quick one from Webb and got the kind of congratulatory pucker he would sooner expect from an LSU fan.

The couple reportedly dated for a year, but as they rose to fame the relationship apparently fell by the wayside.

"Yes (they've broken up)," Webb's mother, Leslie Webb, recently told RadarOnline.

"Katherine’s just trying to stay real busy."

Another source told the gossip site that they could just be on a "break" for now.

Speaking to The New York Daily News, the former Miss Alabama gushed about her love of football season in an interview about her sexy new Carl's Jr. and Hardees ad campaign.

"I'm so excited about football season," she said. "I just love watching it. It gives me something to look forward during the fall. I'm pretty close with Auburn and Alabama."

Sounds like Alabama is in the friendzone now.

Eminem gives whacked-out interview on ESPN's 'Saturday Night Football' (VIDEO)

The rarely seen Eminem appeared on ESPN's "Saturday Night Football" to offer a sneak peek of his video for new single "Berzerk" that will introduce the show every week — and might now wish he stayed in hiding.

A bugged out-looking (see GIF below) Eminem — or Marshall Mathers as he was called — appeared with announcers Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit in the booth during halftime of the Notre Dame-Michigan game. The interview got off to an awkward start when the trio discussed the making of the video — and the exchanges had Herbstreit rolling his eyes. But even hip old Brent knew that the bearded guy in the video clip was music producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin and and that knowledge seemed to put the "uncomfortable" Mathers at ease —sort of.

Musburger asked the die-hard Lions fan if the team would cover the 4 1/2-point spread against the Vikings Sunday, but the zonked rapper didn't want to "jinx" his hometown Detroit team and just said they would win.

At the end of the interview a genuinely humbled Mathers awkwardly told Musburger that he was honored to be in the same booth as the veteran sportscaster and would put him on his fantasy football announcers team along with the late Pat Summerall, John Madden and Al Michaels. He even showed Herbstreit "much respect" and told him, "You're great too."

It was all a little bizarre and surreal from the start but the spacy "8 Mile" star showed that he's a pretty knowledgeable fan of football —or at least the guys who broadcast them.

Brent Musburger: Miss Alabama comments didn't warrant ESPN apology

It sounds like Brent Musburger thinks ESPN overreacted when it issued an apology during the fallout from his complimentary remarks about Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron's girlfriend, Katherine Webb, during the BCS Championship game last week after saying "Whoa" and calling her "beautiful" and "lovely."

For those of you who missed it, while the cameras lingered on the Miss Alabama beauty queen in the stands, the 73-year-old play-by-play man enthusiastically waxed poetic about her charms and urged young boys to become quarterbacks to get the pretty girls.

On Tuesday, Musburger was asked by TMZ if he thought it was fair for ESPN to speak for him.

"Individuals say what individuals say. And corporations do what corporations do," said a cordial Musburger. "Obviously, they felt it was the right thing to do."

Asked if he thought what he said about Webb was inappropriate, Musburger bluntly said, "No."



Musburger told TMZ he has not spoken with Webb but "would like to someday."

About the scenario of running into Webb, Musburger said," I'll smile. She'll smile. And I'll wish her the best."

Asked if he believes his remarks launched her burgeoning career, Musburger downplayed giving her that first 20 seconds of national fame.

"She already launched it," he said.  "I don't think she needed any help from me."

Brent Musburger introduced America to Jenn Sterger too

Call Brent Musburger what you will — a football analyst calling it like it is or lecherous old man saying too much — but last Monday wasn't the first time he turned a college-age beauty into a television sensation.

While Katherine Webb, the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, was featured on television screens during the Crimson Tide's rout of Notre Dame, the long-time college football play-by-play announcer blurted out, "Wow, I'm telling you, quarterbacks : You get all the good-looking women. What a beautiful woman. Wow!"  The eight second camera shot turned her into an overnight star.

Now a seven-year old video clip has surfaced where Musburger has the same reaction to another group of young co-eds — featuring a spirited Florida State fan named Jenn Sterger.

Sterger — the little seen TV host and probably most famous for being the former New York Jets reporter involved in the Brett Favre privates picture scandal  — and her sexy pals had Musburger panting over them while calling a Florida State-Miami game in 2005.

The long-time announcer was less specific about the sexy Sterger, who was wearing a red bikini top, Daisy Dukes cutoffs and a cowboy hat, but made his point.

"Fifteen hundred red-blooded Americans just decided to apply to Florida State," he said when the camera focused on the dancing co-eds.



Say what you will about Musburger's enthusiasm for the ladies, but he does know what's important to the recruits.
