Smoke bomb tossed from stands hits soccer linesman in back (VIDEO)

During an incident which could have been much worse, a crazy soccer fan tossed a smoke bomb onto the pitch while a match between Aston Villa-Tottenham was in play. The metal canister hit an assistant referee standing on the sidelines.

Luckily, nobody was seriously hurt, though that doesn’t excuse the craziness that occurred during the first half at Villa Park.

Just past the 30-minute mark, assistant referee David Bryan was hit just below the neck by a smoke bomb lobbed from the Tottenham supporters’ section — an incident that’s already sparked an investigation from England’s Football Association. The device, thrown from the Doug Ellis Stand after an Andros Townsend goal, hit Bryan between the shoulder blades, and while there was a momentary pause in play as he was treated by medics, Bryan was not injured.

Via Twitter, West Midlands police announced the arrest of two men in connection with the incident.

In England, possession of a smoke bomb at a football stadium carries a maximum sentence of three months. So these two idiots can kiss their Guinness goodbye for a while.

Soccer star gets pantsed but still manages shot at goal in his underwear (VIDEO)

A Danish soccer star didn't let something as embarrassing as a pantsing keep him from his appointed goals —or attempt at one.

As Aston Villa's Nicklas Helenius raced down the pitch in the Capital One Cup match-up against Tottenham Tuesday, he was chased down by Jan Vertonghen. When the Villa striker raced into the penalty area, Vertonghen took drastic action and grabbed the shorts of Helenius and yanked them down.

Helenius was slowed down by Vertoghen's desperate move but, with his uniform shorts strung around his knees, the striker kept going for the score.

By the time Helenius fired his shot over the net, he was showing off a pair of tighty-whities to the fans inside Villa Park.

Incredibly, referee Jon Moss refused to point to the penalty spot  — leaving Villa searching for a goal... and red-faced Helenius pulling up his shorts.

Villa were further embarrassed by Tottenham in more ways than one as they handed them a 4-0 blanking in front of their own fans.
