Old Yankees phone number is now a sex chat line

Fans calling a toll-free phone number once used by the New York Yankees ticket office expecting to score some seats over their cell phones might be in for a real shock. Instead of getting Derek Jeter or CC Sabathia in a pre-recorded greeting, fans will be enticed by a woman's voice prompting them to a sex chat line.

A Google search for "Yankees box office phone number" will lead the caller to an old Yankee.com Web page with 800--913-9793 — now a sex hotline.

"Welcome to America's hottest talk line," a woman's perky voice says instructing you to pick your preferences. "Ladies, to talk to interesting and exciting guys free, press 1 now. Guys, hot ladies are waiting to talk to you. Press 2 to connect free now."

By pressing a number you'll find out you must be 18 before being prompted to enter a five-digit membership number.

The Yankees say the mix up is beyond their control.

"It's not a Yankee issue. It's an idiosyncratic thing with Google," said team spokesperson McGillion.

She said callers used the "temporary" 800 number for seat relocations in 2008 and 2009 and the team has no control over a phone number that is not used anymore.

This gives being a Yank fan a whole new meaning. And no that wasn't A-Rod picking up on line 2.
