Wilmer Flores goes from tears to walk-off home run (VIDEO)

On Wednesday night there was Wilmer Flores sopped in tears, thinking the New York Mets had traded him.

Now, just 48 hours later, here was the young infielder being drenched in a Gatorade shower after hitting a walk-off home run in the 12th inning of the Mets' 2-1 win over the Nationals.

Talk about an emotional roller coaster ride. 

Happily for Flores, and luckily for the Mets, the trade never went through.

Maybe there is a little magic left in the Yankees playoff push this season. And last night it came from one of the newest jigsaw pieces filling in the Bomber's lineup puzzle.

If the Yankees somehow make it to the playoffs, the team might want to look back at Chris Young's game at Yankee Stadium Thursday night and say thanks for the spark.

The former Mets outfielder — who was the scapegoat for everything that's wrong at Citi Field this season — broke up Alex Cobb's no-hitter with a one-out double in the eighth inning and then hit a thrilling walk-off three-run homer in the ninth to give the Yankees a 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

And it set off cheers that haven't been heard in the Bronx for a while.



Losing last night was have been another stumble in the Yankees playoff march but a no-hitter would have been a tumble down a cliff to a postseason void.

Young said it felt as if he were "floating on a cloud" upon seeing the ball clear the fence and hearing the fans cheer for him. 

"I don't even remember running around the bases," he said. "All I really remember was hitting the ball and being at home plate. I don't remember the rest. I don't even know if I was fully there."

Adam Dunn crushed a walk-off two-run homer to right-center field to give the White Sox a 6-5 win over the Yankees Friday night.

You don't have to look any further than closer David Robinson's body language to know how he felt about feeding a juicy fastball to the Big Donkey — and blowing his first save of the season.

Or, as Chicago announcer Hawk Harrelson put it, "Yes ... yes ... Hell yeah-as."

Mike Trout's first walk-off HR completes Angels rally over Rays (VIDEO)

Mike Trout launched a three-run walk-off home run, the first walk-off homer of his career, to finish off a dramatic rally by the Los Angeles Angels Thursday night.

Trout greeted Brad Boxberger with the game-ending homer to cap a four-run ninth inning and give the Angels a 6-5 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in the opener of a four-game series.

Something tells me, it won't be his last walk-off dinger.
