Derek Jeter backed out of underwear deal saying briefs were 'too gay': Report

Derek Jeter pulled out of a luxury underwear deal because he didn’t want undies linked to the Yankees icon marketed to the “gay community,” according to legal papers filed Monday.

The Yankee legend was one of the high-profile faces for the underwear brand Frigo before the company claimed he balked on the agreement because the high-concept briefs were “too gay,” according to TMZ.

“[Jeter] demanded that [Frigo] not market to the gay community and states that he did not want the Frigo brand to be ‘too gay,’ ” the company said.

The Swedish line, owned by RevolutionWear, says the company lost $30 million when the former Yankee captain backed out of an arrangement to endorse Frigo and act as a company director.

Jeter’s alleged “gay” remark was just another skid mark in the company's ongoing underwear war.

Earlier court papers alleged that the ex-Yankee shortstop also was concerned that rapper 50 Cent would make a bad brand ambassador because he would make the underwear line look too “urban.”

“Wow, guess I’m not a Yankees fan anymore,” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram after those comments went public. “LETS GO METS? Man, you can’t trust nobody these days.”

Jeter called the “urban” allegations “categorically false” and slammed Frigo owner Mathias Ingvarsson for taking the feud public.

He claimed he was “disgusted by Mr. Ingvarsson’s decision to make these false allegations against me in the press, instead of attempting to work out our business dispute in private.”

“I facilitated the introductory meeting between 50 Cent and the company,” Jeter said in a statement. “So it makes absolutely no sense that I would object to 50 Cent being a Frigo brand ambassador or think that 50 Cent is ‘too urban’ for the brand.”

Jeter claims the company has threatened him to put more capital into the business.

He has filed his own suit against the brand.

Hal Robson-Kanu strips down to underwear on pitch (VIDEO)

Wales winger Hal Robson-Kanu was forced to strip down to his undies and change his shorts during their 2-0 defeat against Holland at the Amsterdam Arena Wednesday.

Robson-Kanu's shorts had torn during an airborne challenge with Holland's Daryl Janmaat in the 28th minute leaving the immodest player with no choice but to show off his tightie-whities to the smirks of the packed house.

Eager to stay on the pitch and help his country, Robson-Kanu quickly changed on the touchline in front of manager Chris Coleman, giving fans more than they had bargained for.

Remember what mom used to say about wearing clean underwear.

Derek Jeter reveals his favorite underwear at pop-up store

If you're like many New York Yankees fans this off-season, the burning question concerning Derek Jeter doesn't have anything to do with with his bum ankle or how he wrangled a $12 million contract out of Hal Steinbrenner.  It's all about his undies.

The Yankee shortstop let curious fans in on what’s going on underneath his pinstripes at Thursday’s opening of Frigo’s pop-up store in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, according to the N.Y. Post.

Yes... pop-up underwear store ... in the Meatpacking District.

The Yankee slugger is a fan of the brand’s RevolutionWear skivvies, which run $100 each and feature an inside pouch that can be adjusted for a customized fit.

But don’t expect Jeter to appear in an ad in his high-tech, high-priced undies — dubbed by some as the “TempurPedic banana hammock” — anytime soon. “It’d be too embarrassing,” he told Page Six, noting he is pals with the brand’s Mathias Ingvarsson.

Off the field, Jeter has a new gig with Simon & Schuster, Jeter Publishing. “I am interested in people’s stories,” he told Page Six. “I like to read about success stories but, more importantly, when the end result is success, the failures leading up to it. I think a lot of times people see success stories and people automatically assume they started there. I like to see the whole process.”

From now on, it sounds like his lady friends can expect some lively reading material next to the autographed baseball in his infamous swag bags the morning after.
