Mets already selling Tim Tebow gear through MLB loophole

It's Tebow Time at the New York Mets Instructional League camp even though he hasn't even made the roster.

Tim Tebow reported to the camp in Port St. Lucie, Fla. on Monday where there was a brand-new Mets jersey waiting for him. There were also blue and orange Tebow jerseys waiting for 400 or so fans who showed up with enough cash in their pockets — specifically $128 for a jersey and $28 for a cap.

The new Mets signee has the best-selling jersey on Mets.com Monday afternoon, his white, pinstriped Mets jersey even out-selling Noah Syndergaard’s blue jersey. A Tebow t-shirt was also the best-selling overall item on the site earlier.

Traditionally, MLB teams are forbidden from selling a jersey with a player’s name and number on it until that player makes the 40-man roster — which explains why custom jerseys are always among the top-sellers. But, ESPN reports, Tebow signed a “bridge agreement” with Majestic Athletic, which is MLB’s official uniform provider, that allows the company to sell gear with his name and No. 15 on it before he makes it to the Bigs.

Nothing like some divine intervention to get this whole new Tebowmania going.

Mets replace ‘Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow promo with Matt Harvey (PHOTO)

After the HBO hit show “Game of Thrones” sent the Twitter world into a frenzy Monday by including a photo of Jon Snow — a popular character who was presumably killed at the end of the last season — in a promotional tweet for their own upcoming season, the New York Mets answered with a copycat tweet of their own.

Only the Mets’ tweet features pitcher Matt Harvey in place of Snow.

And whether or not the Snow character is dead meant nothing to Mets fans who fought like the Starks and Lannisters over who should have been featured in the promo:

Noah Syndergaard's Game 3 ball he threw at Alcides Escobar's head is for sale

Mets starter Noah Syndergaard opened Game 3 of the World Series with a 99 mph fastball that buzzed by the head of Kansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar. 

Syndergaard, sounding a little peeved at the Royals' quick triggers before the game, pretty much predicted this scenario earlier as the Mets entered the night down 0-2 in the World Series.

"I have a few tricks up my sleeve that I'll be able to break out tomorrow night," the hurler said Thursday. "I'm looking forward to it." 

And it didn't take long to figure out what "tricks" he was talking about.

There are six days left to bid and the latest offer is already $1522, so who knows how high the price will climb.

But don't expect any bids on Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas' reaction to Syndergaard's chin music, that's priceless.

New Mets prospect apologizes for anti-gay slur

New Mets prospect Noah Synderaard — acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in the R.A. Dickey trade — has already mastered the fine art of heading off the New York media before they get a chance to splatter a misstep all over the back pages.

Yesterday, when the righthanded pitcher was asked to comment during a conference call where he was introduced — along with catcher Travis d'Arnaud and John Buck — as the newest members of the Mets.

 Syndergaard, not wasting any time,  immediately apologized for an anti-gay remark he posted on Twitter last week, calling it "a poor attempt at humor."

The 20-year-old Syndergaard tweeted to the account of fellow minor leaguer Dayton Marze this tweet on Dec. 9.:

"@DMarze89 nice crocs f-- lol."

The tweet no longer appears on Syndergaard's timeline.

"I had a little mishap on Twitter about a month ago, and it was just brought to my attention this morning," Syndergaard said during the Tuesday conference call.

"I'd just like to apologize for anything that was said.  A buddy and I were having a little conversation.  I had a poor attempt at humor and an even worse attempt at using a term I shouldn't have used.  I hope I didn't offend anybody.  I'm really sorry my first introduction to being a New York Met had to be like this."

Syndergarrd — the No. 3 rated prospect in the Blue Jays' farm system — was a crucial part off the deal that sent NL Cy Young winner Dickey, Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas to Toronto.
