MSU's Denzel Valentine hits game-winning 3-pointer on ... Valentine's Day (VIDEO)

Michigan State guard Denzel Valentine nailed a game-winning three-pointer with 3.2 seconds on Saturday to break a tie game which led to a win over No. 23 Ohio State 59-56. And if that wasn't enough, it just happened to occur on Feb. 14, otherwise known as Valentine's Day.

The homegrown product gave the Spartans a win it greatly needed and a Valentine Valentine's Day gift way better than roses. Valentine finished the game with a team-high 17 points and five three-pointers. Michigan State is now 17-8.

Penn State hockey team wears '409' decals honoring Paterno wins (PHOTO)

To help commemorate the return of Joe Paterno's 111 victories — once vacated by the NCAA as part of sanctions leveled against Penn State in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse tragedy — the Penn State's men's hockey team wore “409” decals on their helmets Friday night as they took on Michigan State University in a Big Ten matchup.

The 409 represents the total number of victories Paterno had earned throughout his career before the 111 wins were wiped from the record books.

The NCAA ruled on Friday to overturn sanctions eliminating 112 of the program's wins, after a proposed settlement among the NCAA, the university and Pennsylvania state officials.

Paterno's 111 wins restored his status as the winningest head coach in college football history and had most of Happy Valley in a celebratory mood.

But the PSU hockey team's decision to wear the controversial 409 sticker had its critics on social media.

After the game, head hockey coach Guy Gadowsky clarified that the idea to wear the decals came from the players — and was not a "student decision."
While the Paterno legacy earned a huge victory on Friday, the Nittany Lions hockey team fell to the Spartans 3-2 in a shootout on the ice.

Penn State basketball players will reportedly wear "409" T-Shirts on Saturday.

Adreian Payne's little friend, Lacey Holsworth, succumbs to cancer: Report

Lacey Holsworth, the little blonde girl who became friends with Michigan State basketball star Adreian Payne while battling cancer, died early Wednesday.

Princess Lacey was 8 years old.

"Princess Lacey has achieved the ultimate victory," reads a post from her official Twitter account. "She now dances among angels."

Holsworth met Payne after being diagnosed with neuroblastoma and during a hospital stay two years ago, at which point the two became close and fixtures in each other's lives.

She participated in the Spartans' Senior Day activities last month and accompanied him throughout the team's run to the Big Ten championship and the NCAA tournament in Dallas just last week. She watched Payne finish third in the slam dunk contest.

Although bittersweet, Payne made the little girl's final days something special.

UConn tweets apology to President Obama for busting his bracket

Just like everyone in their office pool, President Barack Obama picked No. 4 seed Michigan State to win the national championship. That prediction came to an on Sunday, after Connecticut’s 60-54 upset win over the tournament-tested Spartans.

The official UConn sports Twitter account was all too happy to zing POTUS about his pick.

The Huskies will face the top-seeded Gators in a Saturday Final Four game. UConn was the last team to beat Florida back on Dec. 2.
