Mets to adorn Citi Bikes with logo for summer sweepstakes

The New York Mets are getting ready for an amazin' ride this summer — at least on bicycles they are.

In a first, 50 Citi Bikes will be decked out with Mets logos to kick off a month-long sweepstakes which will allow one lucky winner to throw out the first pitch at Citi Field against the Washington Nationals on Aug. 2.

Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson will announce the contest at Central Park South and Sixth Ave. Wednesday afternoon.
New Yorkers are all too familiar with the ubiquitous Citi Bikes jamming up the streets of New York City and, love-em-or hate-em, the bikes have become a way of life there.

To enter, Citi Bike riders must find one of the Mets-themed bikes and post a picture on Twitter or Instagram using #CitiBikeSweepstakes.

Yankees fans might feel a little slighted (they don't play at Citi Field), but just think of what they could post with Mr. Met's face.

Mets' logo change had fans in a panic (PHOTO)

Sharp-eyed Mets fans blew up the Internet Monday night after they noticed that the team's longtime skyline logo had been slightly altered on the team's social-media sites.

The squared-off top of the United Nations building on the far right had been replaced with the slanted rooftop of the building formerly owned by Citicorp — which pays the Mets $25 million annually for the naming rights to Citi Field.

The Metsies screamed sellout, even though the Manhattan building isn't even associated with Citicorp anymore.

The logo was eventually switched back to the correct version — the one that has remained virtually unchanged since 1961

A team spokesman said the Mets regretted the error and that the logo wasn't changed, but offered no real explanation for the  Citi-inspired version.

Who even knew that was the UN Building in the first place?
