David Ortiz goes berserk after strike three call against Yankees (VIDEO)

If there is any spark left in the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry, it basically all comes down to one player still linking the bitter hatred between the two teams to the past.

And on Friday night, David Ortiz brought that blaze back to the Bronx.

Ortiz began chirping after Andrew Miller got a called strike two from home-plate umpire Ron Kulpa on a 3-1 count with one out and the bases loaded in the ninth inning — a slider that prompted Sox manager John Farrell to run out, hold Ortiz off and get ejected.

Then Ortiz took another slider for a called strike three before walking toward the dugout, then returning, and unleashing his full fury at the ump.

Big Papi needed to be restrained before Miller struck out Hanley Ramirez swinging for the final out of a 3-2 win Friday night at Yankee Stadium.

“One I can understand, one time. But not two,” Ortiz said after his explosion. “Both of them pitches were bad, though. (Kulpa’s) looking at me like I screwed up. I didn’t screw up. Know what I’m saying?

“Everything was a ball,” added Ortiz, who said Miller doesn’t need any help. “Even the one I swung at was a ball.”

It wasn't exactly the Core Four years, but something tells me Miller would have fit in pretty good back on those old Yankees teams — at least as Mariano Rivera's set-up guy.

Red Sox give Ellsbury World Series ring at Yankee Stadium: Report

Five months removed from winning a world championship with the Boston Red Sox and Jacoby Ellsbury finally received his 2013 World Series ring in the most unlikely place of all — Yankee Stadium.

The new Yankees outfielder received his 2013 championship ring from Boston manager John Farrell and general manager Ben Cherington in a suite somewhere in their rival's stadium Friday night before the AL East Division game, according to NJ.com.

"I was excited to put it on," said Ellsbury, who was warmly greeted by his former Boston teammates. "Excited to get it. It was neat."

Ellsbury had said he was looking forward to finally receiving the ring after former teammates had told him about how impressive it was. Even if it was in the awkward surroundings.

"It's very nice," he said. "Those guys let me know that it's pretty special and that it's neat. So, I was definitely happy I could receive it from Farrell and Cherington."

It is the second piece of championship bling for Ellsbury. He also has one with the Red Sox for their 2007 World Series title — which he said he still occasionally wears but hasn't since signing a $153-million, seven-year deal with the Yankees this offseason.

The Red Sox also gave a ring to Yankees reliever Matt Thornton, who was on the team but hurt during its championship run last season.

Ellsbury probably won't hear any boos during this series, which will be played in front of his new home crowd.  But that will likely change when the Yankees visit Fenway Park later this month.
