#AstrosMovies becomes a Twitter blockbuster

If Houston Astros fans can find humor in their sad team's plight, anyone can.

That's exactly what happened after a trending Twitter account — started as a private joke among friends — exploded Thursday night after these long suffering Astros die-hards got blockbuster returns with their own hashtag called: #AstrosMovies.

Piggy-backing on a Twitter exercise started by a couple of similarly despondent White Sox fans, #AstrosMovies is a collection of tweets with with clever and humorous twists on movie titles with Astros themes.

The ensuing play on words was so heavy Thursday night — that between 9 and 11 p.m. CT as a Twitter trending topic — it was ranked No. 2 in the United States and No. 3 worldwide, according to Cut4/MLB.com.

You don't even have to be an Astros fan to get a kick out of the trending tweets.

Submissions came from what seemed like the entire Astros fanbase and outsiders looking to get in on the fun.  Some tweets are gold.

A couple of the best included "Dotel Mom the Babysitter's Dead," "Oh Brother Where Art Howe," "Home Villone" and "Who Framed Roger Clemens."
