The Houston Cougars captured the American Athletic Conference championship with a 24-13 win over the Temple Owls on Saturday afternoon, but a scary scene unfolded when stadium security got way too abusive with fans who rushed the field at TDECU Stadium while celebrating the win.

University of Houston vice president for intercollegiate athletics Hunter Yurachek released a statement condemning the actions of the stadium's security guards. Associate athletic director for strategic communications David Bassity posted the school's position on Twitter:

Saturday marked Houston's first conference championship triumph since 2006.Criminal charges should be forthcoming.
