NJ high school hockey team attempts to use two goalies, hopes nobody notices

A New Jersey hockey team thought they had the answer to playing a far superior team Sunday when they tried to slip two goalies in front of the goal hoping no one would notice.

Tenafly High School argued that there was nothing in the rulebook which prevented them from defending the net with two goalkeepers against St. Joseph’s of Montvale, which was ranked among the top 20 in the state, so their coaches decide to give it a shot.

When the refs prepared to drop the puck and saw one team with two goalies and four skaters, they put a stop to the unorthodox setup and called Tenafly for a delay of game penalty.

I'm not sure of the New Jersey high school rules, but USA Hockey Rule 203(c) states: Each team shall be allowed one goalkeeper on the ice at any time during the game.

Tenafly ended up losing 10-0.

Next time, just put mud flaps on a fat kid.
