Gatorade Twitter account trolls LeBron over cramping

LeBron James is taking a lot of heat after having to sit out the majority of the fourth quarter of Game 1 of the NBA Finals with a left leg cramp that caused him to have to be carried to a seat on the sidelines.

With the temperatures hovering around 90-degrees inside air-conditionless AT&T Center and the San Antonio Spurs up two points, James had to leave the game and never returned as his team suffered a 15-point loss. That's when social media platforms pounced on the overheated James.

It wasn't just basketball fans mocking James' futile hydration attempts. Gatorade's Twitter account responded with a few witty responses to people who mistakenly thought James was a client of theirs.

Back in 2003, Gatorade pulled out of trying to sign a sponsorship deal with James. At the time, they had twice named him the Boys' High School Basketball Player of the Year, but couldn't see eye-to-eye on what James' role with Gatorade should be if they came to an agreement on a sponsorship deal, according to CBS Sports.

James eventually signed a deal with rival sports drink Powerade — and is Gatorade happy about that now.
