Student hits half-court shot but denied $10,000 prize because of unspecified rule (VIDEO)

During halftime at a West Chester University basketball game, Jack Lavery was given a chance to win $10,000. All he had to do was make a layup, a free throw, a 3-pointer, and a half-court shot within 25 seconds. However, after pulling it off in amazing fashion, the Philadelphia-area school is now saying it won't be awarding him the prize.

Here's what happened.

After nailing the first three shots — all on his first attempt — Lavery air-balled the half-court shot. With amazing hustle, however, Lavery managed to get the ball and heave one last attempt — nailing it off the back board. 

The crowd went wild, and the announcer even raised his hands in celebration. The only problem? He didn't actually win claimed the school.

After hitting the amazing, last ditch attempt, Lavery was told that he would not be given the money because the rules stated he had to make all of the shots on his first attempt — meaning the second half-court attempt didn't count.

On Twitter, Lavery made it clear that he was not aware of any such rule.

Lavery has taken to social media to spread the word, and needless to say, seems pretty upset about it — even though the clock did seem to get stuck on :01 for an extended length of time.

Pressure is being put on West Chester to pay Lavery his prize money.
