Memphis player cut for tackling ball boy, stealing ball after loss to Auburn (VIDEO)

Reggis Ball, a safety for the Memphis Tigers, must have felt so indignant about losing 31-10 to Auburn at the Birmingham Bowl Wednesday, that after the final touchdown, he tackled the ball boy man on the field and ran off with a pigskin souvenir.

After grabbing the ball, Ball pushed the equipment staffer to the ground then sprinted away, holding it up in triumph as stunned onlookers watched.

And, as if it made any difference to his college career, the senior was cut from the team later that night.

"This player's actions are totally unacceptable. He has been immediately removed from the team and we will continue to move swiftly in addressing what occurred," the school said in a statement.

"Even though Mr. Ball's football career has ended, he will no longer be a part of the Memphis program because of these actions."

The Ledger-Enquirer reported that Ball has a history of trying to steal balls from opponents at the end of a game.

Hope it looks good with all the other purloined pigskins on your trophy case.
