High school football player charged with assaulting coach: Report

A Georgia high school football player lost his cool and shoved his head coach during a game last week, authorities said.

Defensive lineman Keewan Willams shoved coach Chad Davenport with hard enough force that he fell to the ground, according to the Atlanta Journal- Constitution, citing a local WSBTV news report.

Williams was charged with one count of battery.

The attack occurred last week at a game between Northview High School, where Williams attends, and Chattahoochee High School in Fulton County, authorities said.

The push was hard enough to send the coach onto the field from the sideline.

“It was pretty forceful.  He went all the way from the sideline to the 30,” said a witness.  “I know Coach McCoy, our weight lifting coach, had to hold Davenport back because he was really mad.”

Citing privacy laws, Fulton County school officials wouldn’t say whether Williams was suspended or expelled from school.
