You'll never believe how this women's basketball game ended (VIDEO)

This is coach's worst nightmare. A tournament upset victory in the bag with a tick of the clock left — only to watch a season go down the drain.

And so much for all that talk about women's basketball and good fundamentals.

LIU Post senior guard Alexis Peters stole the inbounds pass with 1.1 seconds left with her team trailing by one point Friday in an NCAA Division II regional quarterfinal.

Peters' runner went through the net as time expired to push her third-seeded Pioneers past No. 6 Assumption, 60-59, at Dana Athletic Center in Waltham, Mass.

Post (23-6), which overcame a 13-point second-half deficit, will move on and play No. 2 Adelphi in a semifinal Saturday.

"I was thinking please just go in," said Peters, who had 21 points. "I knew she wasn't paying attention to me."

Now a lot of people are paying attention.
