Mark Gottfried jumped out of an airplane for NC State's Midnight Madness (VIDEO)

You could say Mark Gottfried went to the extreme to make it to Primetime With the Pack: Operation Our State on Friday night.

To get to the 2013-14 men's basketball team's showcase, the N.C. State head coach (in full fatigues) parachuted out of a plane, then took quick flight in a chopper, before cruising over to the arena in a Humvee for the Wolfpack's pre-season festivities.

In terms of entrances, you can't set the bar higher than this —literally.

Among the other highlights were a tribute to the U.S. Military, a 20-minute split-squad scrimmage and a 3-point shooting contest pairing each N.C. State player with a member of the Fort Bragg military basketball team.

"We have great fans, and it's so fun for our guys," Gottfried said. "I like the fact that our young guys are trying to learn. They're doing things that I like. Overall, it was a good night, a fun night and we're going to get back at it early in the morning."

The days of a coach firing up the crowd by doing an awkward dance with the mascot are officially over.
