Rockies coach gives kid souvenir ball, life lesson advice

When Rockies first base coach Rene Lachemann gave a little boy a souvenir ball on Wednesday, there was a catch. The freebie came with a Ward Cleaver lecture and some advice for free:
  • "Be good with your mother and father, all right?"
  • "Eat your dinner, eat up all your vegetables."
  • "You go ahead and don't fight with your brothers and sisters, all right?"
Since this is 2013, maybe his "Leave It To Beaver" life lesson sensibilities might be a little outdated. Lachemann should have included some advice more pertinent to the times:
  • Limit video game playing to four hours a day
  • Don't text and bike ride
  • Facebook is for friends
The timid kid endures the boring lecture for the free ball. But that Santa threat never gets old.
