Brian Cashman will pay a whopping $1M a year to ex-wife

Brian Cashman has been a little stingy this offseason when it comes to the New York Yankees payroll and salary cap, but apparently had to channel his inner George Steinbrenner when it came to settling with his ex-wife.

The Yankees general manager will fork over a whopping $1 million a year in alimony and child support to his  now ex-wife, Mary Bresnan, under the divorce settlement they agreed to this week, court records obtained by The New York Post revealed.

While the money is certainly not exactly in the A-Rod stratosphere, it means Cashman — whose wife dumped him after she found out about a fling he had with a woman last year —will be sending a check of $83,333.33 to Bresnan until Halloween 2025 — unless she remarries.

The annual payout works out to a hefty $999,999.96 per year — but still only half as much as the median salary of a Yankees player last season.

While any divorce is sad — especially with two young kids involved — it sounds like the ex did okay.




Besides the monthly cash transfer, Bresnan will get ownership of their $3.7 million Darien, Conn. home and is the beneficiary of a $5 million life insurance policy — unless she ties the knot again. They will split their joint bank account and Cashman gets to keep his membership at the exclusive Winged Foot Golf Club.

Cashman earns $3 million a year as the Yankees GM.

Bresnan had stayed with Cashman after allegations of cheating surfaced in 2009 but threw him out at home after an extortion plot by the second woman went public.

Cashman's next prominent settlement issue is with Robinson Cano — who becomes a free agent after this season.

The Yankees GM might lose the house in that one too.
