Martellus Bennett: Romo not in same league as Eli

Martellus Bennett has never been one to keep his opinions to himself.  Now the one time plus-sized New York Giants tight end revealed his recent success is due to the fact that he's not playing with Tony Romo.

The 6-foot-6 Bennett drooped by Manhattan's Old Homestead Steakhouse the other night with teammate Michael Coe and was overheard telling a waiter that he now has a better quarterback throwing to him, according to Page Six of The New York Post.

"Romo isn't even in the same league as Eli Manning. Not even close," said Bennett, according to the source.

Bennett, who is enjoying a resurgence with Big Blue after a disappointing season with the Dallas Cowboys, already has 15 catches and three touchdowns with Manning at the helm.  He had no touchdown catches last year with Romo calling the shots.

Manning's new favorite third-down option came into training camp weighing a whopping 291 pounds but now Bennett looks like Tim Tebow in a Vogue photo spread.

After dishing on Romo and Eli, Bennett was seen signing napkins and receipts for customers at the famous eatery.

They don't call him Mar-Tell us for nothing.

    1. Whether you like him or not he tells it like it is. Romo will never be the accomplished QB Eli is. Keep drinking the cool aid if you think otherwise.

  2. "...came into training camp weighing a whopping 291 pounds..."
Maybe that's why his numbers sucked in Dallas?

    1. Obviously you don't pay attention...he came in all muscle, but the Giants felt he was better playing lighter. He bulked up intentionally for blocking not because he couldn't stop eating.

  3. I gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. First,it's not like he was talking to ESPN, he was overheard having a private conversation. That's not hating. Second, who hasn't had their motivation drop working in a bad company or with a bad boss? If Romo was sending all his short ball to Whitten, MB may have lost some of has motivation and gotten sloppy...
I'll give him props for coming in better to the new situation, unlike Mike Williams (USC) who got a second chance and ate his way out of the league AGAIN...

  4. If he would have made more catches than drops with Romo, he might have had more passes thrown his way. Let's see if he can continue this production for a 16 game or more season.

  5. It's only because Eli throws like a girl and Bennett can catch those. When Romo threw him the ball, he could never catch them.

  6. Man, some serious Dallas fans hating here....the guy just tossed his opinion out to a waiter and was overheard. Stated in the article, so he wasn't thinking press at all here. So, you have to wonder if Romo isn't the real problem in Dallas? I've heard plenty of commentators state the exact same thing. I mean, proof is in the pudding here...not like Dallas has won any playoff games in awhile??? You win in this league with a top flight QB....last time i checked, Eli has 2 SB. Just sayin'

  7. THIS IS COMING FROM A WANT TO BE TIGHT END. WHAT HE HAS A FEW GOOD GAMES AND NOW HE THINKS HE'S ALL THAT. I GUESS IT WAS ROMO'S FAULT WHEN EVERY TIME HE THREW BENNETT THE BALL HE DROPPED IT. UNTIL YOUR IN THE LEAGUE AS LONG AS SOME OF THESE OTHER GUYS OR BECOME AN ALL PRO TIGHT END LIKE GATES OR GONZALEZ DON'T GO RUNNING YOUR MOUTH. I A COUPLE OF GOOD GAMES DOESN'T MAKE U ALL PRO LET'S SEE HOW THE REST OF HIS SEASON GOES IT IS FAR FROM OVER.

  8. ROMO has no rings, Cowboy fans would have 3 rings if they had ELI.
