Former MMA fighter Renzo Gracie live tweets while stopping two muggers on street

Legendary MMA trainer and fighter Renzo Gracie beat up two would-be muggers who had the audacity to try and mug him on a Manhattan street.  The best part is Gracie did a play-by-play live tweet of the beatdown on his Twitter account.

Gracie, who has trained top UFC stars including Georges St. Pierre and Frankie Edgar, was approached by the two lowlifes on 10th Avenue and 25th Street — not far from his gym Thursday night.  They asked Gracie if he had a cigarette, and when he said no, one of them pounced on him.

"He grabbed me by the arm and reached into my front pocket where my wallet was," said the deceivingly small looking Gracie.  "The other man came from the other side, but it didn't last much longer.  As the first one arrived, I hit him with a left and a right and he fell.  When he fell, the other one took off running."

Gracie, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu master, said he had "a good talk" with the first man and "hit him a couple more times" while he was on the ground.  After the beating, Gracie took the time to snap a picture of the man facedown with his iPhone and post it to Twitter with the caption, "My [expletive] hands hurt, hurt like hell."  He later posted a photo of his cut up knuckles and bruised hand.

Gracie then jumped into his car and chased down the other mugger, who he found a few blocks away coming back to help his buddy.  The guy must have dropped a brick when he saw Gracie jump out of his car, get him in a choke hold and hit the perp in both eyes.  Gracie said he hit him so hard he looked like "a raccoon."

The 45-year old forefather of MMA last fought in 2010 but has been mulling a comeback.  The New Jersey resident might have just tasted enough blood to get back in the octagon.

"I think it's better than arresting them," Gracie said of his own brand of justice.  "It's a good education process."

It looks like these two morons just got schooled MMA style.

  8. it never cases to amaze me how people want to talk about guns like they make someone invincible. Do you realize that armed professionals are killed everyday, military, police officiers, and others. This happens even though they are trained prepared and skilled, Tupac was shot multiple times and lived, true he eventually was shot and killed, but to the point I know several individuals who have been shot and still managed to fulfill the objective at hand, L:et me say this a sniper may have a better shot at a properly trained MMA fighter. The adrenalin that runs in their bodies is enough to get them past a gun shot. at close range most combat sports have training to defend against guns. I received the training when I was 12. The funny thing is you don't even need to see it coming to know. My hats off to Mr. Gracie and I only wish the fools would have tried to pull a gun as I am sure that Mr. Gracie would have supplanted it into an orifice that would have required surgical removal.....Why Mr Dumbass why is there a gun in your rectum??? Well, umm, you see....I kind of got my ass handed to me DR....It takes longer to decide to pull a gun out than it does to defend oneself against an expectedly armed person its a fact. Not to mention the time it takes the brain to decide to pull the trigger. You think everyone who carries a gun is prepared to kill someone. I guarantee you that a man trained like Gracie is prepared to defend oneself at all times. Its something you would only know after a life dedicated to training not just the body but the mind as well.

  9. This BS story haha. Please man, this is such made up crap. MMA is such overhyped BS. Especially since it was all striking involved. I trained in boxing and muay thai for years and I remember all the mma and jiu jitsu guys coming in trying to strike and they looked like newborn baby deers trying to stand haha. If that had been me and one of my buddies, Renzo would have gotten put on ice.

  10. Any Gracie would tie you and your boys up like a pretzel. Strikers have no chance against grapplers.
