Crew goalie slams face into goal post trying to make save

New York Red Bulls Thierry Henry and Dax McCarty connected on a beautiful corner kick goal Saturday to help lead their team to a 3-1 win over the Columbus Crew.

There was a scary moment during the play when Crew goaltender Andy Gruenebaum made an great effort to stop the ball but face-planted right into the goal post.

Gruenebaum made a valiant attempt to stop McCarty's header but his momentum carried him face first   into the goal post.  The game was halted while trainers attended to the shaken goalie.  He walked off the pitch on his own power and was replaced by Matt Lampson — who later in the match gave up an incredible goal to Henry.

Thierry had two miracle goals on the night as the Red Bulls inched closer to the top of the Eastern Conference.  They trail the top team in Sporting Kansas City by two points and who the Red Bulls meet Wednesday night at Red Bull Arena.
