A's Coco Crisp quarantined in his own team's dugout

Oakland A's outfielder Coco Crisp insisted on returning back to the starting lineup Tuesday night after missing three games due to a serious case of pink eye.  Call it a case of pink eyes since Crisp has it in both of them.

The A's outfielder hasn't fully recovered from the highly contagious conjunctivitis but was in the lineup for the series opener against the Detroit Tigers and — even though his teammates wanted their leadoff batter in the lineup — they quarantined Crisp to his own section of the dugout during the game.

Over one end of the A's dugout bench, someone made a handmade sign with boundaries which read: "CAUTION: Coco's corner,  Beware of Pink Eye" which relegated Crisp to one area separate from the rest of the team.

When you're playing for a wild card spot, anything less than the Black Plague won't keep you out of the dugout.

The sign might have been put up half in jest and and half as precaution since the bacteria can be spread by light contact and can result in poor eyesight and painful irritation.

Crisp gave it a go but, by the fourth inning, Crisp had to leave the game after experiencing complications from the existing eye issue — he couldn't see the ball.  He was replaced and the A's went on to be routed by the Tigers 12-2.

The A's speedster has been dealing with the issue for nearly a week and has even travelled separately from the team given the highly contagious nature of the infection.  He was seen wearing protective sunglasses in the dugout in the clubhouse Tuesday.

The infection has left Crisp's face looking so swollen, they might have to start calling him Coco Puff.
