Counterfeit Packers Playoff Tickets Flooding Market

The NFL playoffs begin this weekend and authorities have issued a warning for Green Bay Packers fans about counterfeit tickets for the team's two possible home games this month.

The Packers are favorites to win the Super Bowl and have a bye week before their first playoff game on Jan. 15 at Lambeau Field, but team officials are telling fans to be wary of where they buy the prized tickets from.

Authorities claim that the fake ducats are flooding the market because today's technology makes it easy to duplicate the real thing and they can't keep up with many of the counterfeiters' technical skills.

A few signs to look out for to determine the real from the fake might save a person an embarrassing moment at the gate and a few hundred dollars as well.

First, the real tickets are usually larger than the the phonies.

Second, the counterfeits are shinier, have a different feel and are floppier.

"The best advice we can give you is to do your research and know your source," said the Green Bay Packers in conjunction with the local police.

Packers fans will begin tail-gating when their team plays either the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, or New York Giants in the NFC Divisional Playoff on Jan. 15.

If they win that game, the Packers will host the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 22.
